How to clean eyelash extensions and naked eyelid margins

As discussed at 01:18 in the episode

Eyegiene! We clean our teeth, so why not our eyelashes? Like the rest of your skin, your eyelids collect dead skin cells, oils, and debris throughout the day. This buildup can clog the openings of your eyelash follicles and create the perfect environment for bacteria to thrive, leading to irritation, redness, and even infections like blepharitis.

So, how do you clean eyelash extensions?

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your eyes.

  2. Use an eyelash wipe or a special eyelid cleanser. Avoid harsh soaps and contact lens solutions, as they irritate your eyes.

  3. Gently massage the lather onto your closed eyelids using your fingertips, focusing on the base of your lashes.

  4. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat dry with a clean, lint-free towel.

How often should you clean your eyelashes?

Dr. Luk recommends doing this daily, especially if you wear makeup regularly or experience any eye discomfort.
